Vodafone Struck Deals to Distribute iPhone in 10 Countries

This post over at Engadget says Vodafone releasing iPhone in Australia, Italy, India, and seven other countries. I wonder if Celcom will be the first telco in Malaysia to bring in an iPhone. Hmm….

Maxis Scraps Broadband Contract Period

Looks like Maxis has finally wised up by removing the minimum contractual period of 18 months previously imposed on subscribers. Both Celcom and DiGi does not have any minimum contractual period but instead tries to attract people to stay by tying in with other products such as mini laptops and smart phones. I guess it really is a no brainer that this will be scrapped - who in their right mind would subscribe to something for 18 months?! All is not rosy though as it seems defaulters will still need to pay RM200.

My advise - skip Maxis broadband. There really is no reason to with it with this sort of ridiculous terms. Want 3G? There’s Celcom. Wait till DiGi joins the 3G race to see some really interesting stuff.

Interesting Stuff To Download This Week

  1. NetBeans IDE 6.1 Download
    - if you’ve got an inner coder waiting to burst out, try this one. It’s user friendly and comes packed with features. I’m still using Eclipse though
  2. Windows XP SP3 - not yet official so YMMV
  3. Star Wars - Legacy of The Force Book 1 - it’s free for a limited time only. I love these marketing ploys where they offer the first book for free :)
  4. Naruto Shipuuden Movie 1 - all Naruto fans, get yer fix here (torrent)

iPhone UI Coming to Windows Mobile?

Watch this video:

Btw, if you’ve outgrown Windows Mobile and are using a Palm, ZLauncher has an iPhone skin that can pretty much make your Palm look like a static (non of the finger flicking stuff unfortunately) iPhone. It’s the only skin I would use on a Palm. Somehow Apple did manage to nail that simple yet elegant feel.

Palm Beta Testing New Device

Engadget caught wind of this, but nothing concrete. Oh, and it’s a Windows Mobile phone - yawn. Saw this on other Palm websites as well so it’s probably true. Rumored to have WiFi this time.
