That’s right, I’m running Ubuntu on my laptop. Every damn thing works!

  • WLAN drivers - check
  • Logon to WPA network - check
  • Sound drivers - check
  • Installing proprietary stuff (Flash, MP3 codecs, etc.) - check
  • Battery indicator - check
  • Power management - check
  • Sweet looking desktop (think transparencies, window animations, etc.) - check

My my my, Linux has come a long way. In fact, what’s even cooler is that I did not even need to partition my laptop. Everything was installed in Windows XP to a hard drive image. I’m not yet able to browse or see my NTFS partition so this means file sharing is a no-no for now. That sucks since I’ve got 14GB of MP3s stashed on the NTFS partition. So if you wanna dual-boot, be wary of this. I’m sure there’s a way to enable file sharing some how.
