After a few days, it seems that I’m beginning to appreciate the Centro’s simplicity & speed more than ever. Take for example, launching an app. It takes less than a second for any application to launch, with the exception of Blazer which takes maybe about 3 seconds, and be ready for use. Once launched, they are blazing fast. I no longer wait for a menu to render or a dialog box to pop up. I can enter data with such amazing speed I wonder why I stuck with the Ipaq 6965 for so long. OK, probably due to the GPS but that’s about it, I swear.
And the camera is finally useful again. It launches in about a second or two & snaps pics with almost no lag. Quality is just usable for displaying on the phone, but I’m fine with that. I don’t plan to use the Centro for anything but candid snapshots. I’ve got my Nikon D40 to do the more serious stuff.
I’ve loaded the following applications into the Centro:
- DateBk5 (happy with it, so won’t upgrade to 6)
- DocsToGo 10 (it’s available as a free download for Centro users)
- NoahPro 3 (freeware now)
- MetrO
- Some games (MyLittleTank, SkyForce, Astraware Solitaire and Sudoku)
- Palmary Clock
- Lefty
- Files (free SD card manager from Palm)
- SplashID
- SplashMoney
- Resco Backup
I’m loving it so far. Highly recommended phone this is.
Nice phone. How much do you get it?
Hmm… Can it sync well with Microsoft Outlook?
Everything syncs with Outlook nowadays. I’ve kept my Outlook contact since highschool (yes, when you and me were in SMJK). Since then, I’ve synced:
- Treo 270
- Zire 71
- Tungsten T5
- Sony Ericsson T630
- Nokia E61
- iPAQ 6965
- (now) Centro
Got it for RM1299 @ the recent PC Fair. Quite broke now… this was an unplanned purchase.

I see. But my Sony Ericsson T510 does not sync well with Outlook. Some data are missing or corrupted.
T510?
Well, for SE phones, I think don’t expect 100% sync. Even for the Nokia E61 (which is supposedly a business phone), it doesn’t sync Outlook’s Calendar notes.
Palm and WM syncs 100% fine though
Nothing beats Palm for PIM management - Contacts, Calendars, Tasks and memos!
I didn’t realize how much doc, till I tried it again after a while. You planning to get one?
