Telco Talk Malaysia has just posted that MCMC has qualms with how DiGi is managing their dealers. These 2 practices were targetted:
- DiGi should not tie mobile phone dealers with its agreement that bans them from selling other telco products
- DiGi should not force the dealers to display its promotional materials or its signboards
Now my question is this - why would the dealers still do business with DiGi even when such rules were imposed? Hint: profit maybe? Of course, I’m only speculating here, no solid numbers or anything.
Also, why must MCMC act as a babysitter for the other 2 telcos? I thought MCMC’s purpose was to protect the interest of the general public and the nation? It has definitely managed to show that it is trying to force DiGi into a corner by denying DiGi 3G and WiMAX licenses, allowing the other two telcos to escape with SMS scamming and now this.
Come on MCMC, you must wake up and realize that stifling the competition is why Astro, Proton and TM is so sub-par. Now you want to do the same in the telco industry? Tsk tsk tsk…
